“These are members already gazeted and wish to work with the party(NRM) They are members of the party but maybe didn’t get enough votes(during primaries) and ended up going independent and were  fortunate enough to win in the parliamentary election,” Among said, applauding the MPs-elect for showing interest in working with NRM.

Among applauded these MPs for contributing to President Museveni’s victory in the just-concluded 2026 presidential elections.

The NRM deputy Secretary General, Rose Namayanja welcomed the MPs for  seeking to work with the ruling party.

She said the group will be taken through  formal procedures before signing a Memorandum of Understanding to work with the NRM.

The NRM director for legal affairs, Enoch Barata  said the process culminating into signing of the MoU will begin after swearing-in of all MPs.

He however noted that accepting to work with NRM doesn’t necessarily mean crossing to the ruling party.

“The general idea of this cooperation is not that one has changed their party to NRM but we only enter into an agreement to cooperate on several issues. This usually comes mainly in cooperating IN supporting  resolutions of the NRM parliamentary caucus,” Barata said.
